SlitherScope is made by Ruthless Ideas LLC, a Michigan company. No account, no sign-in, no ads.
What stays on your phone
- Photos you identify are checked on your phone. They are never uploaded.
- Microphone sound from "Listen for a rattle" is checked on your phone and never leaves it.
- Your chosen place, month, and that you tapped "I understand" are saved on your phone only.
What leaves your phone
- Usage count. To count how many people use the app and come back, the app saves a random ID on your phone and sends it to our own server with the app name each time you open it or finish an ID. It is not linked to your name, email, or contacts. Data type: app interactions and a device/other ID.
- Rough location, only if you tap "Use my location". A rough spot (rounded to about half a mile) is sent once to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to look up the elevation. We do not store it.
What we never do
We do not sell data, share it for ads, or collect your name, email, contacts, or exact location.
Keeping and deleting
Usage counts are kept to see whether the app is useful. Clearing the app's site data removes the ID from your phone. To have its count deleted from our server, email us.
